“Excellent Practice!”: SUSU Students Are Undertaking Internship at NPO Elektromashina

This year, students of South Ural State University undertake internship at NPO Elektromashina. In the future, they are to become technology engineers and constructors.

Students got allocated at the enterprise depending on their year of study and specificity of the internship. The major part got assigned for the Engineering Centre, Programming Centre, Department of Life Support Systems, Departments of Electric Drives and Security Systems, etc. Six students – the soon-to-be technology engineers – got assigned to assist specialists of the Chief Technology Engineer’s unit.

Students had a briefing and got familiar with the enterprise in the course of an excursion. Then, within 5 to 6 days, they are to study software which constructors of Elektromashina work with.

“When students get familiar with the software, they will be given real practical assignments: they will be creating the simplest 3D models of product elements. Naturally, the work of interns will be checked by specialists, and then these elements will be applied in construction of items,” noted the Head of the control and training cycle, Vitaly Pogrebinsky. “If someone among students of the 2nd or the 3rd years of study express their interest in the job, we will employ them to the enterprise for part-time job. We have a lot of work to do. Moreover, the students will get assistance in writing their course papers and graduation theses. And this will be not a theory already but a real practical research.”

For students of initial years of study who haven’t been taught major-related subjects at the university yet, introductory practical training at enterprises such as Elektromashina helps making up their minds regarding their future profession.

“The university gave us a chance to choose out of several enterprises to undertake an internship at. We’ve been at the Elektromashina for a week already, and now we are studying SolidWorks software for 3D design of items. I like the fact that here we get engaged in our profession and there is the possibility to write our course paper under assistance of specialists at the enterprise,” said a 2nd-year SUSU student, Daria Tenditnik (her major is Design and Technology of Electronic Means).

According to Elektromashina’s 2nd category specialist for human resources affairs Larisa Geraskina, the record number of interns is the result of a roundtable discussion which was held in this year’s April and featured representatives from Chelyabinsk’s higher education institutions. Back then, leadership of SUSU accented the fact that potential employers should start working with students from the very initial years of their study. Students start getting engaged in the profession and get a practical understanding of what working on a plant means.

“All this provides almost 80% guarantee that the best young specialists after their graduation will want to get employed to the same enterprise which they undertook internship at and have already gotten familiar with the colleagues,” emphasized Larisa Geraskina.

As noted at the NPO Elektromashina’s HR office, the enterprise is ready to employ this year’s university graduates. There are available job positions, see more details at npoelm.ru.
